The 4th week of pig (pork) market weekly report in 2010: The live pig price decreased sharply
1. Pig (pork)market
The 4th week (January 25th –January 31st) in 2010, the pork price in main growing district decreased slightly. Among them, the pork price was about 18yuan per kg in Sichuan Mianyang region, 17.5yuan per kg in Wuhan, 17yuan/kg in Shangqiu Henan, 16yuan/kg in Hunan Changsha, 13.9yuan/kg in Beijing Xinfadi, 13.1yuan/kg in Beijing Yuegezhuang, 15.5yuan per kg in Tianjin and 14.75yuan/kg in Shanghai.
2. Market analysis:
This week, the holistic pig market oscillated successively, and the pig price was down. The piglet transaction was sluggish, at the beginning of this year, the price of the piglet and live pig decreased; the main reasons were as follows:
Firstly, the breeding farmers undersold. On the one hand, it was the plague, in some regions, farmers undersold the weak pig avoiding the loss; on the other hand, with the festival approaching, farmers were keen to sell for the festival preparation, with the live pig supply increase, the price was down.
Secondly, with the Chinese New Year approaching, the purchasing enthusiasm of the slaughter enterprises gradually banished. It was about half month before the festival, and the procurement of the slaughter enterprise were approaching to the end, adding to the stable pork price and sufficient supply volume, the purchasing volume of the slaughter enterprises dwindled, which further suppressed the live pig price.
According to the analysis, at the end of December last year, the reproductive sow volume was about 4910, and the holistic live pig volume was about 46900, the sow volume accounted to the 10.45% of the live pig volume. After the Chinese New Year, the live pig price would decrease again. Although the live pig would adjust slightly in short term, seen from the long run, the further live pig market would be stable, and the sow volume would continue to increase. In the first half of 2010, the live pig price would be stable, as well as the price relations of the pig feed, and the breeding profit would maintain the current situation.
3. Market analysis:
It was almost half month before the Chinese New Year, and the pig price had in the low level, the pork traders and slaughter enterprises had large purchasing volume after the festival, which would banish the supply pressure and favor to the pig price increase.
