The 4th week of poultry market weekly report in 2010
Date  : 2010-02-08

The 4th week of poultry (eggs) market weekly report in 2010: The egg price rose firmly

The 4th week (January 25th –January 31st) in 2010, domestic egg price in most production areas was still high. The egg transaction price was 6.88yuan/kg in Hebei province Guantao eggs terminal market, 7.2yuan/kg in Jiangsu Lingjiatang, 7yuan/kg in Shandong Qingdao, and 7.7yuan/kg in Hunan Changsha. In main national sales territory, the egg price kept firm. The trade price was 6.9yuan/kg in Beijing Yuegezhuang market, and 7yuan/kg in Tianjin.

With the Chinese New Year approaching, recently the egg price was high. The main reasons were as follows:

1. It was the festival approaching. The large-sized foodstuff manufacturers started to prepare for the festival, and enlarged the demand volume of the eggs.

2. The snowfall and the low temperature in the northern regions caused the laying rate decrease and brought the transportation standstill. With the tight supply, the egg price went up.

3. Since January, the corn price rose successively from 1520yuan per ton of last month to 1620yuan per ton, which led the feed price increase and further increased the egg price.

Seen from the current situation, the egg price would be high before the festival.
